Search conducted, 47 year old Bridgewater man arrested. As a result of an investigation conducted by the Bridgewater Police Service General Investigation Section, a search warrant was conducted at a private residence on Maple Street on Tuesday, February 25th, 2014. The Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit as well as members of the Community Response Unit assisted in this effort.

A cellular phone was seized and a 47 year old male was arrested. The male is alleged to have breached his court orders placed on him in relation to past sexual offences. The man will face an additional charge of theft of electricity.

The accused was held in custody overnight and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on Wednesday, February 26th 2014 at 9:30 a.m.

RE: Car/Pedestrian Collision on Old Bridge Street

At 10:53 am, Bridgewater Police started receiving a number of calls regarding a car/pedestrian collision. initial reports indicated the vehicle involved left the scene and the incident had occurred on Lahave street. Responding units quickly determined the incident had actually occurred in the vicinity od the Toronto Dominion bank on Old Bridge Street. The vehicle involved in the collision had returned to the scene prior to members arriving.

A 57 year old, Bridgewater woman was attempting to cross the Old Bridge Street in a wheelchair when she struck a black automobile driven by a 37 year old woman. The pedestrian was transported to South Shore Regional Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Witness reports indicated the pedestrian had not activated the pedestrian warning light before proceeding into the roadway. The driver of the vehicle was ticketed for operating a motor vehicle without a valid drivers licence.

The matter is still under investigation.
