The Lunenburg County Seniors’ Safety Program is a community-based program that is a project of Lunenburg County Seniors’ Safety Partnership Society and managed by Bridgewater Police Service in partnership with the RCMP.
The Lunenburg County Seniors' Safety Program (LCSSP) is a free confidential community-based non-profit service that works collaboratively with BPS, RCMP, and many community partners to help address the safety concerns of older adults residing in Lunenburg County. Service is provided through awareness campaigns, advocacy, community outreach projects, educational programs, community presentations and one to one service on referral. Referrals of individuals age 65+ are accepted, but this service may be expanded to assist those age 60+ who are on limited income and are not affiliated with DCS.
The day-to-day operation of the program is the responsibility of the Seniors’ Safety Coordinator.
The coordinator works in close partnership with local police agencies and a large network of local, provincial, and federal partnering agencies.
Supervisor: Bridgewater Police Chief, in partnership with RCMP District Commander. The LCSSP is overseen by the Lunenburg County Seniors’ Safety Partnership Society.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – COMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN (PART-TIME)
Bridgewater Police Service is inviting applications from professional and responsible individuals to fill the following part-time position: Communications Technician.
These half-time positions are responsible for dispatching on-duty patrol officers and completing necessary documentation with impeccable accuracy and efficiency. The Communication Technician is also responsible for front-line service to the public (telephone and in-person), whether contacting the office for an emergency or a general inquiry.
Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with a minimum of a high school diploma. Post-secondary education is preferred and considered an asset The candidate must be computer literate and comfortable learning and navigating new programs and systems.
Although experience in a policing, emergency services, or a dispatching environment is preferred, training will be provided. A high level of tact, diplomacy, and the ability to handle sensitive heated situations in an appropriate and professional manner in combination with a high level of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail are key qualifications.
The successful candidate must also submit to a security clearance, including Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks.
