Subject: Aggravated assault charge (FILE #2023-819134)
BRIDGEWATER, NS – A charge has been laid following an incident that reportedly took place outside of a Bridgewater establishment in the early hours of Sunday, June 11, 2023.
Bridgewater Police Service (BPS) responded to several 911 calls at about 12:15 a.m. for a reported assault near Firkinstein Brewing on King Street in Bridgewater.
Police and paramedics arrived at the scene and located a 36-year-old male with head injuries. The male was subsequently transported to South Shore Regional Hospital for treatment before being sent to the QEII hospital in Halifax where he remains in critical condition.
Jason Booth, a 45-year-old male from Bridgewater, was located and arrested later in the morning in connection with the incident. He is charged with aggravated assault under Section 268 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
He was released by a Justice of the Peace and will be appearing for plea July 26, 2023, in Bridgewater Provincial Court.
