Subject: Police looking for witnesses following 911 call (FILE #2024-1259589)
BRIDGEWATER – On August 28, 2024, at approximately 8:10 p.m., Bridgewater Police Service (BPS) patrol officers responded to a 911 call for an injured adult male in a parking lot located on High Street in Bridgewater.
Emergency Health Services (EHS) and BPS responded to assist the injured male, who is in his 30s and a Bridgewater resident. The male had serious injuries to his midsection and upper chest and was attended to by EHS before being transported to South Shore Regional Hospital for further treatment.
The victim’s injuries appeared to be consistent with wounds caused by a knife or other edged weapon. He required further treatment and remains in hospital care at this time.
The circumstances that led to the injury are not clear and the matter is being investigated by the Criminal Investigative Division (CID) of BPS. Investigators are working with the victim’s family to gather additional information and provide support.
While the call originated from High Street, police believe that the injuries were sustained at a separate and as-yet unknown location. It is believed that the victim left the location on his bicycle after being injured.
There is no known threat to the community stemming from the incident. However, based on the investigative details, the populated and high-traffic location, and time of day, police believe that there could be additional witnesses to this incident.
