Subject: Three charged after Murray Drive home invasion (FILE #2024-2211011)

BRIDGEWATER, NS – On Sunday, February 18, 2024, at about 6:30 p.m., Bridgewater Police Service (BPS) responded to two 911 calls for a home invasion involving three suspects at a residence on Murray Drive in Bridgewater.

Patrol members, assisted by the K-9 Unit, BPS Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCO), and members from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) responded to the residence. A short time later police received a third 911 call advising of three suspicious people running on Empire Street.

Officers completed a search of the area, locating two of the suspects on Pleasant Street where they were arrested without incident around 7 p.m.

The third suspect was located at approximately 9:15 p.m. at a residence on Pleasant Street, where he was arrested without incident.

Darcy Johnson, age 41, and Daniel Johnson, age 22, of Gold River, Nova Scotia, each face the following charges:

  • Break and enter into a residence with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Conspiring to commit an indictable offence
  • Mischief causing damage to property

Kyle Rafuse, age 36, of Upper Tantallon, Nova Scotia, faces charges of:

  • Break and enter into a residence with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Conspiring to commit an indictable offence
  • Mischief causing damage to property
  • Counselling others to be party to an offence (break and enter for the purposes of theft)

All three were remanded into custody to appear at Bridgewater Provincial Court on Tuesday, February 20, 2024.
