Bridgewater Police Service charges Lunenburg County driver with stunting

Bridgewater Police Service charged a Lunenburg County motorist with stunting after an officer caught a Ford Mustang travelling 103 kilometres per hour in a 50 km/h zone on the west side of town.
Just before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, a Bridgewater Police Service officer using a speed measuring device while stationed off Victoria Road clocked the speeding eastbound vehicle at more than twice the posted limit.
The officer tracked the vehicle to a High Street intersection where it stopped at the red light. Police subsequently conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle near the intersection.
The driver, a 26-year-old man, received a summary offence ticket for operating a motor vehicle on a highway in a race, in a contest, while performing a stunt or on a bet or wager. The Motor Vehicle Act charge carries an immediate seven-day licence suspension and, if convicted, a $2,422.50 fine. The driver’s 2005 Ford Mustang was seized for the same length of time as the licence suspension.
