WHAT IS THE BRIDGEWATER BOARD OF POLICE COMMISSIONERS?
The Bridgewater Board of Police Commissioners has a critical role as a civilian governing body of Bridgewater Police Service.

The responsibilities of the Police Commission under the Police Act include providing civilian governance on behalf of Town Council in relation to the enforcement of law and working with the chief officer to set the priorities, objectives, and goals respecting police services in the community. The BPC includes three citizens, three representatives from Town Council, and one appointment made by the Nova Scotia Department of Justice.

THE  2022-2025 PRIORITIES
The BPC undertook an extensive internal planning exercise to craft the priorities that represent the four main areas of focus over the life of the plan. Those focus areas are:
-- Crime Reduction
-- Safe Community
-- Innovative Operations
-- Governance

Following the completion of the draft strategic plan, BPC initiated a community engagement effort to take the draft priorities to stakeholder organizations in and around Bridgewater to confirm that the priorities which BPC had identified were reflective of the issues of the community and the opportunities that exist to optimize policing services.
