Policing leaders ensured community service would be part of its multi-day annual Nova Scotia Chiefs of Police Association/ Nova Scotia Association of Police Governance (NSCPA/ NSAPG) fall conference.
Attendees provided non-perishable food items and monetary donations for a local food bank while attending their event.
“Events like these bring people together, helping us build strong connections with our policing partners while giving back to the community. Supporting the food bank through conference donations is a great example of what can be achieved when people come together,” said Scott Feener, Chief of Police, Bridgewater Police Service.
He and Danny MacPhee, Deputy Chief of Police, were the Bridgewater Police Service delegates attending the Oct. 14-16 event at the Oak Island Resort and Conference Centre in Western Shore, Lunenburg County.
The NSPCA/ NSAPG organized the idea to ensure the gathering left a positive footprint in the surrounding community.
"When we come together for a conference like this, it’s important we don't just talk about community safety in a boardroom but that we actively practice it by supporting the people who need a helping hand,” Feener added.
"Leaving the area a little better than we found it is a responsibility we all share.”
