BRIDGEWATER, NS – On Thursday, August 5, 2021, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Bridgewater Police Service (BPS), with the assistance of the RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, RCMP Digital Forensic Services (DFS) Unit, South Shore Street Crime Unit, and the RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), executed two search warrants at different residences on north King Street in Bridgewater for electronic devices.
As a result, Brandon John Sarty of Bridgewater has been charged with Possession of Child Pornography (Section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code of Canada) and Transmitting and Making Available Child Pornography (Section 163.1(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada). The victims of these offences are not believed to be local.
Sarty was also charged with possession of cocaine and possession of methamphetamine. He appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court in the afternoon of Thursday, August 5, and was released on conditions.
