BRIDGEWATER, NS – At around 3:30 a.m. in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 15, 2025, Bridgewater Police Service and Bridgewater Fire Department responded to Shipyards Landing on south King Street following a report of a fire.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the southernmost section of the floating dock in the LaHave River at Shipyards Landing was on fire. Bridgewater Fire Department quickly extinguished the blaze, but the floating dock suffered significant damage and was effectively destroyed.
While responding to the call, emergency responders noted that property at the scene owned by the Shipyard Shindig Music & Arts Festival or its contractors appeared to have been damaged by an unknown person or persons.
Police also subsequently responded to a report of an overturned portable toilet that was lit on fire elsewhere in the community’s south end, near Woodland Gardens and DesBrisay Museum.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying anyone suspicious who might have been in these areas and may be responsible for causing the reported damage.
