BRIDGEWATER, NS – On August 8, 2022, at approximately 8:10 p.m. Bridgewater Police Service (BPS) responded to the Petro-Canada on North Street for a report of a robbery.
The suspect had entered the store with his face covered and requested cartons of cigarettes. A physical altercation took place between the suspect and store clerk over the cigarettes, resulting in the suspect fleeing scene. A description and direction of travel was obtained by responding officers.
Containment was set up and the BPS K-9 Unit was brought in and completed a track to a residence on Seasons Drive. While members were securing the residence, the suspect fled out the back window running towards Aberdeen Road. The suspect was then tracked for an extended period on the east and west sides of North Street, eventually coming out on Aberdeen Road where he encountered BPS officers. After a lengthy foot chase the suspect was arrested.
Brian Joseph Dobbin has been charged with:
– Robbery, Section 344 of the Criminal Code of Canada
– Having face masked, Section 351(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada
– Theft of cigarettes, Section 334 of the Criminal Code Canada
– Possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, Section 88 of the Criminal Code of Canada
– Resisting arrest, Section 129(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
Dobbin appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court on August 9, 2022.
